CABINET APPROVES EXTENSION OF T-VER TAX MEASURES IN FIGHTING GLOBAL WARMING TO SUPPORT COMMUNITY FORESTS PROGRAM

Recently, cabinet resolutions approved extending the period of tax measure promotions to support the Voluntary Emission Reduction Project (T-VER) by exempting tax for companies or juristic partnerships on the net profit from the sale of carbon credits in the country from January 1, 2023, to December 31, 2027.

This is to encourage businesses and citizens to participate in supporting 10,246 community forests, which will increase operational potential of community forests with the goal of increasing the storage and absorbing of greenhouse gases to 120 million tons of carbon dioxide equivalent by the year 2037. The tax measures have created incentives for the private sector to implement projects to reduce greenhouse gas emissions to a greater number and leads to investment and promotes the development of the carbon credit market in Thailand.

The tax promotion measures from the government will further increase the development of country’s energy sector.
